Leather:  Hinterland leather is tanned naturally, chemical free and using hand-picked unblemished premium hides. We still work with the same environmentally approved tannery, which we started with back in 2008. We use aniline calfskin leather for the padded parts of our products. All Hinterland leather products are pre-oiled and ready to use straight out of the packaging.

Hardware/Fittings:  Our bridles are made with high quality German stainless steel buckles. We use Nickle buckles for some larger items, such as halters. Steel components are an extremely important part of ensuring the Hinterland brand is of the highest quality and we guarantee all of our products against breakage under normal use. We do not cover accidental breakage.

Padding: Medium density, anti-fungal memory foam is used as padding on many of our leather products. This ensures the ultimate comfort to horses.

Sheepskin: Some products are sheepskin lined and we use a thick short hair sheepskin for it’s anti-fungal and anti-rub properties.

Shipping Bags: We use compostable shipping bags derived from biopolymers and co-polymer; PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate), Corn-starch and PLA (polylactic acid). Our compostable bags do not contain any conventional plastic whatsoever. Simply remove or cut off any added glue (labels/stickers) attached and place the bag into your compost bin. If you do not have a home compost, you can send them to your nearest commercial compositing facility.
